The Villasol farm is located in the department of Nariño, in the municipality of Buesaco, at an altitude of 1,950 meters above sea level, and covers 6 ha. Coffee trees of both traditional and exotic varieties are planted on 4.5 of them: 10,000 each of Caturra and Colombia, 8,000 Castillo, and 2,500 each of Geisha and Pink Bourbon.
Thanks to the volcanic soil and the characteristics of the climatic zone, the coffee has a high, clean acidity, even with traditional washed processing; however, Diego pays special attention to producing honey and anaerobic microlots. Standardized processing makes it possible to achieve a repeatable result for each variety from harvest to harvest: the base varieties more often go through honey processing, while the Geisha and Pink Bourbon undergo natural anaerobic processing.
Only organic fertilizers are used on the farm, which, together with a water treatment system, allowed Diego to obtain Organic certification.
