Major Italian coffee company Kimbo has temporarily suspended production at its factory in Naples, effective October 21. The decision comes in response to ongoing protests by transport workers in the Campania region, which have caused severe disruptions to logistics and the movement of goods.
According to a statement from company president Mario Rubino, the blockades have made it impossible to manage the ordinary flow of supplies and shipments. The halt in production was a direct consequence of the company's inability to receive raw materials or dispatch finished products, impacting the entire supply chain from suppliers to customers.
The situation underscores the vulnerability of just-in-time production schedules to localized logistical breakdowns. While factory shifts are paused, Kimbo has expanded remote work options for its administrative staff to mitigate disruptions. The company has stated it is monitoring the situation closely and will resume operations once supply and shipping routes are restored, though no specific timeline has been announced.
