We cup every lot we export, and for years we did it with paper forms and spreadsheets. Paper ends up in a drawer. A spreadsheet survives until somebody sorts a column. Descriptors get retyped into an email by hand, and by the time a roaster reads them, half the session is already lost.
So we built the tool we needed ourselves, and then we opened it to everyone. It is called Cupscore, it is free, and it runs in a browser: nothing to download, no app store, no licence to buy. On a phone it installs to the home screen in one tap if you want it there.
What you can do in it
- Cup alone, or with a table of people. One lot or up to twenty in a single session — on a phone you switch between them from a bar at the bottom of the screen, without scrolling back up.
- Seat the whole room in twenty seconds. You create the session, everyone else joins by typing a short code or scanning a QR. Your tasters install nothing and register nothing.
- Watch the table come together live. While people score, you see the average per lot, how far apart the panel is, and who has already finished. Calibration becomes a conversation instead of an argument.
- Choose descriptors on the flavour wheel. The wheel is interactive, with definitions in three languages, and every descriptor you pick stays attached to the attribute you were tasting — so the report says which acidity was citric, not just that the coffee was citric somewhere.
- Get a report you can actually send. One tap gives you a PDF that looks the same on a laptop, on an iPhone and in a shared link, printed in the language of whoever opens it. Every saved result also has its own link: send it to a producer or an importer without exporting a file.
- Keep your cuppings in one place. Solo sessions and panels sit in the same history, a twelve-lot cupping stays one entry with one combined report, and if you sign in, your sessions follow you from the phone at the table to the laptop in the office.
- Time the session for everybody at once. Start the timer as the host and it runs on every taster's screen, with the signals at four and ten minutes.
- Score on the protocol you already use. The classic SCA form and the Coffee Value Assessment are both there; you pick one and the sheet changes with it.
- Stop worrying about losing work. Everything is saved on your device as you cup, scores queue up if the signal drops, and you come back to the same open session if a phone dies mid-table.
What it costs
Nothing, and there is no Q licence gate: we are a green coffee exporter, not a software company, and a shared vocabulary between the farm and the roastery is worth more to us than a subscription.
