SCA Announces Shortlist for Board of Directors Election

The Specialty Coffee Association has named three candidates for its Board of Directors election: Ahmed Bin Sulayem (DMCC), Sunalini N. Menon (Coffeelab), and Karsten Ranitzsch (Nespresso). Voting for SCA members will take place in November, with results announced in December.

The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) has revealed the three candidates shortlisted for its upcoming Board of Directors election. The nominees, selected by the SCA Nominations Committee following an interview process, are Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC; Sunalini N. Menon, President of Coffeelab Limited; and Karsten Ranitzsch, Global Head of Coffee at Nestlé Nespresso S.A.

The election process includes a "Nominations by Petition" period running from September 1 to 30. This allows other applicants who were not selected to join the ballot if they secure at least 100 signatures from SCA professional members or company member primary contacts. The final ballot will be published on October 13, and SCA members will be invited to cast their votes between November 1 and 30.

The election results are scheduled to be announced on December 15. The SCA Board of Directors is a 15-member volunteer group responsible for providing mission-based leadership and strategic governance for the trade association. The board's work, supported by the CEO and staff, guides the direction of the world's largest organization dedicated to specialty coffee.
