The Best of Panama 2026 auction has concluded with record-breaking sales, generating over US$3 million in total value from 50 lots of specialty coffee. The event, organized by the Specialty Coffee Association of Panama, attracted more than 25,000 bids from international buyers, underscoring the strong global demand for the country's high-end coffees.
A washed Geisha from Lamastus Family Estates, the Elida Geisha Torre, achieved the auction's highest price. The 15-kilogram lot, which scored 96.25 points, was sold to Chinese e-commerce company JD.com for US$270,060, equivalent to US$18,004 per kilogram. In the Geisha Natural category, a lot from Finca Lérida called Lérida Waterfall Geisha Natural, with a score of 95.63, was acquired by a consortium of buyers for US$202,575, or US$13,505 per kilogram.
The auction also highlighted excellence in other categories. A Laurina coffee from Hacienda La Esmeralda topped the Varietals category, selling for US$4,216 per kilogram. The results demonstrate the continued price-setting power of the Geisha variety and the sustained interest from buyers, particularly in Asia, for competition-winning micro-lots. The high number of bids and significant total sales value reflect the robust health of the ultra-specialty coffee market segment.
